Jason Gray named football coach at Valencia

STAFF WRITER

Valencia named Jason Gray its varsity football head coach on Wednesday.

Gray has been a Valencia assistant coach for 26 years. He has been a teacher there for seven years.

Gray replaces Shawn Racobs who coached the Tigers for one season, having replaced longtime coach Mike Marrujo. Racobs in February said he was fired as Valencia coach; the school did not comment, which is not unusual as public schools rarely comment publicly on personnel issues.

Valencia in 2016 finished 4-7 overall. The Tigers went 4-1 in the Empire League to share the league championship with Tustin.
