FULLERTON - Roberto Salazar’s three-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted Fullerton to a 5-4 victory over Sonora in a Freeway League game Friday at Fullerton College.

The Indians (10-5, 3-0) are a half-game behind first-place Troy (4-0 in league), which defeated Buena Park on Friday.

Fullerton was trailing, 4-3, and had runners on second and third with first base open when Salazar, the team's cleanup hitter, drilled a low fastball over the left field wall.

“I knew that I would most likely get something off speed,” said Salazar, who hit the home run on a 1-0 count. “I knew if I got a fastball I had to take a hack. Hitting a home run was definitely not on my mind.”

Salazar had driven in the Indians’ second run with a single in the third, and he finished the game 3 for 3 with four RBI.

Jack Anderson, Fullerton’s No.3 hitter, went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.

“Roberto is our power hitter,” Fullerton coach Tony Gonzalez said. “We know that when he comes up, he is a threat every time. It was impressive on his part and that is why he is our team captain and one of our leaders.”

In the top of the sixth, Isaac Ramirez hit his second home run of the game, a solo shot, to give the Raiders (7-8, 2-3) a 4-2 lead.

Ramirez hit a two-run shot over the right-center field wall in the third to give Sonora a 3-0 lead.

Anderson and Salazar had RBI singles that made the score 3-2.

In their final at-bat, the Raiders had a runner at first with one out when Indians reliever Raul Herrada got Steven Perez to ground into a game-ending double play.
