University reaches 100 straight league wins

One of the premier programs in Orange County added yet another monumental accomplishment to its already impressive resume as University’s boys tennis team won its 100th consecutive Pacific Coast League match against No. 3 Corona del Mar, 14-4, on Tuesday afternoon at Corona del Mar High.

Trojans junior Julian Lafond swept from his No. 2 spot in the singles lineup, while Patryk Kozlowski and Hans Hwang went 2-0 atop the doubles rotation. University led 5-1 after the first round and were up 9-3 headed into the third.

In what’s the best tennis league in Orange County – and one of the best in the nation – University has won the Pacific Coast League title 11 years in a row, and will be favored to capture a 12th straight crown this year as they are ranked atop the county poll and are now 8-2 on the season.

All six Pacific Coast League teams are currently ranked in the county top-10 poll. The Sunset League is the only other league with multiple teams represented in Los Alamitos and Fountain Valley.

The Trojans last league loss came all the way back in April of 2006.
